Copper Bead Pheasant Tail and Hare Nymph
A euro nymphing take on one of fly fishing's most enduring classics. Tied slim and simple with a copper tungsten bead, pheasant tail body and tail, and a hare's fur thorax — this is a general nymph imitation that covers a lot of bases. The combination of natural materials gives it a lifelike translucency and subtle movement that fish find hard to refuse, and it has proven itself in competition fishing at the highest level as well as being tried and true on all New Zealand rivers, especially in the backcountry.
About This Range of Euro Nymphing Flies
Every fly in this range is tied on barbless jig hooks with slotted tungsten beads. The flies are sold by bead size — because getting to the right depth is the most critical factor in euro nymphing. Tied on the smallest hook the bead will match (12-18 depending on fly), the compact profiles keep things natural, help entice wary fish, and maximise sink rates so your fly gets into the zone fast.
