Chubby Chernobyl: Tan & Black (Sizes 8 & 10)
The Chubby Chernobyl is a high-buoyancy foam terrestrial designed for New Zealand's backcountry — built specifically for the January to March Chorus Cicada hatch. In prolific years, these large cicadas drive trout into a feeding frenzy, and fish will swim remarkable distances to intercept a well-presented fly.
At 45mm (size 8) and 40mm (size 10), both tied on 2x long-shank hooks, there's plenty of material to work with when the fish get picky. A quick trim with a pair of scissors lets you dial in the profile on the water — matching the hatch in real time. The Tan and Black colour variants are chosen to closely replicate the large silhouette of the Chorus Cicada throughout the summer hatch season.
