Rabbit Zonker Strip – Premium Fly Tying Material
Rabbit Zonker strips are one of the most versatile and effective materials in the fly tyer's kit. Cut from premium rabbit hide with the fur left on, these strips deliver an irresistible pulsing, breathing action in the water that fish simply can't ignore.
In New Zealand waters, Zonker strips are a go-to material for tying a wide range of patterns — from classic Woolhead Sculpins and Rabbit Leeches to Zonker streamers targeting big browns and rainbows in the South Island's braided rivers, or the hard-fighting rainbows of the Taupo region. They're equally at home tied into smelt and baitfish imitations for lake fishing, or bulky attractor patterns for high-country streams.
Each strip measures 5mm wide x 300mm long — the ideal size for a range of hook sizes and fly styles. The consistent width makes wrapping and palmering straightforward, and the natural taper of the fur gives finished flies a lifelike silhouette.
