Fly Fishing the Ngongotaha Stream
The Ngongothaha stream in Rotorua is often overlooked in summer but the fishing can be great. Still stuck in Auckland Johan revisits previously unpublished footage of a great session fishing the Ngongotaha stream last summer ending with a lovely fat 5lb rainbow trout.
The stream also holds a lot of big browns, especially later in summer as the lake warms up and it can be really worthwhile stalking these big fish. They also frequent the flats around the stream mouth in peak summer which makes for great sight fishing in the shallow clear lake water.
