A wading stick (staff) is an essential piece of safety equipment especially when fishing rivers. This wading staff has an internal plastic coated non-stretch wire cord. When you extend it and put the parts in place you then pull the handle up to lock it all, a push button pops out.  As the internal cord has no stretch it is very unlikely for it to now come apart.
