Flounder on fly
A great effort by Tyler, our I Love Fly Fishing Ambassador and keen competition fisherman. Here is the story in his words.
“A different species is now ticked off the list on the fly rod. A flounder was one of my biggest goals of this year and this couldn’t of been any better. I knew there wasn’t a large population of good size flounders in Foxton but I managed to pick this one up. I caught him on the incoming tide around this creek where it made a little shallow pool, I spotted him and he was cruising around so I used my skills from targeting the spooky and picky browns which helped out a lot as I caught it during the day. I was almost laying down and put the cast in front of him and he followed but didn’t attack the fly so I did another but let the fly drop and it launched at it. This was caught on my 6 weight V-top with a floating line. I used this micro bugger. It’s on a size 14 hook“
